IIIT Bangalore Admissions Announcement for 2012

IIIT Bangalore Admissions Announcement for 2012
IIIT-B invites applications for admission to the M.Tech, full-time MS by Research and full-time Ph.D. programmes for the academic year starting in 2012. The M.Tech degree is awarded upon successful completion of a 2-year, broad-based academic programme in IT. It is awarded upon successful completion of a graduate-level research programme, usually lasting four semesters. The Ph.D. is the terminal, research-oriented degree in the subject, intended to prepare students for research, teaching, and scholarly careers in academic settings or research laboratories. IIITB is also introducing an Integrated M.Tech. Programme in IT for post-senior-secondary (+2 or equivalent) students. This is a 5-year dual-degree (B.Tech. and M.Tech.) in Information Technology.
Eligibility
The minimum qualification for admission to the M.Tech, MS by Research and Ph.D. programmes at iiit-b is a first-class four-year bachelor's degree in engineering (i.e. B.E., B.Tech., or equivalent). First class degree holders in 3-year undergraduate programmes followed by Masters Degree with first class in any of the physical sciences, or an MCA degree with first class, can also apply. Final-year students expecting to graduate by August 2012 may also apply. First class or equivalent is required in 10th and 12th (or equivalent) grades as well.
Selection Procedure
Admission to the M.Tech. programme is on the basis of prior academic performance (at the high school level and beyond), performance in the iiit-b's online admissions test and an admission interview. Applicants with good scores in the GATE examination and GRE examination may be eligible for waiver of Entrance Examination (see below).
Admission to the MS by Research and Ph.D. programme is through initial short-listing for interview based on past academic performance, publications (if any), and relevant experience (if any). The interview for short-listed candidates would involve the candidate making a presentation in their area of their interest to the selection committee.
